News Stuff.
Serious things first? Sure.
Dick Cheney defends the US torture policy. In a sick way, this is pretty funny. I remember at the beginning of Mission Year, I met an alum that, when I told her about my own religious upbringing, asked "people still believe in Calvinism?" I sort of have that kind of reaction with stuff like this, "people actually think something like waterboarding is 'legal, essential, justified, successful and the right thing to do'?" Come on pal. I think the only thing true there (or better yet, valid) is "successful." I heard a sound clip of this on the radio the other morning and was trying not to laugh.
Keeping with the theme of injustice (on a much lighter note), Niklas Kronwall of the Detroit Red Wings got kicked out of his game last night for this hit on Martin Havlat of the Chicago Blackhawks. By all analysts' perspectives (including Ed Olczyk, who is employed by the Blackhawks) and my own upon initial viewing, the hit was clean and Havlat just needed to keep his head up. Furthermore, the Hawks crashed the Red Wings players along the boards over top of their slightly conscious and injured teammate, putting him in further danger. You have to stand up for your guys, but don't put him in more danger. Use your heads boys!
Those are the things that jumped out at me this week.
Peace.

I will agree with you that the wrong call was made on the ice, it clearly should not have been called interference, however by no means is that a clean hit. That is clearly out right charging at it finest.
As the rule states:
"43.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player or goalkeeper who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner."
Kronwall clearly leaves his feet going into the hit and also puts his elbow right into Martys head.
Come on Jordan that hit has no place in hockey. Stay on your feet and keep your elbow down.
Lenzi is right, that was charging, but not interference. It's not the first time this series that Havlat was rocked because he skates with his head down.
about the waterboarding.....Dick Cheney is old news....but the sad thing I'm hearing about now is that Obama is not really changing these policies. did you see the article in the metro the other day that showed Obama's face morphing into Bush's face. I think people are starting to see that he's not as much of a change as people thought. Sounds like Obama's War in Afghanistan is getting as ridiculous at Bush's war in Iraq. I really wish more Jesus-followers would speak out against the foolish Obama-support that's so trendy these days. we need Jesus.
