Jason Kay posted (mostly) some excellent suggestions on his blog at The Hockey news. I especially appreciate his suggestion to return to a divisional playoff format like in the late 80s/early 90s and to take out the anthems before games.

also soem insane suggestions. Smaller goalie gear again?

Anyone suggesting no touch icing is crazy. The olympics are like whistle fest 2k10. No thanks.

More teams in the playoffs? As in more than half the teams isn't enough? Making the playoffs should be an honor and challenge, not a giving more all but the worst teams.

And this one: "One international tournament every four years. We need a World Cup, like soccer." Comparing soccer to hockey is inane. It will never have that kind of popularity. Between the olympics and the IIHF, there are plenty of internation hockey games.

And the talk about removing the two line pass? With the fact that the center line no longer counts, there really aren't two line passes anymore.

"More 4-on-4. Maybe the last five minutes of regulation?" Crazy talk.

I wish we could grab a beer and discuss hockey.
